Wireless home router:
A major security problem with most off the shelf wireless systems. Wireless encryption is not enabled.
Most wireless routers start out with no wireless security at all.
This means anyone within 100 feet can access not only your internet conection for free, to send spam or worse, they have inside access to all your computers and shared files.
This is more dangerous than using your credit card on the internet. Anyone with a laptop, IPhone, or Standard Wireless device can get on your internet connection and send or receive any type of stuff:
- Spam distribution
- MP3s
- Phishing attempts
- Malicious software installation
- Identity theft
- Child Porn storage and distribution
- and the list goes on
All this from a $50 wireless router that wasn't secured properly. And by the way if there are any law enforcement investigations they will be knocking on YOUR door. I don't know about you but I don't need to be visited by any of these agencies.
